Well, it’s that time of year again, when the weather cools off and the Coastal Carolina Fair comes to town! The weather, though, will be warm to kick it off. Actually near 80! Well, that’s our crazy South Carolina weather and I’m sure it will be a great day for the event.
Drop by the Channel 5 house and say hello if you are coming to the fair. I will be broadcasting LIVE on Thursday and Friday of each week and Brad Miller will be there on Wednesday.
I can already smell the fried food!! Who knows what they’ll come up with to fry this year. Fried Twinkies were one of my favorites. That’s just soooo bad for you though. I wonder why everything that tastes good is bad for you? Hum! We’ll ponder that while broadcasting right across from the pizza guy and sausage dog stand!
Have a great week and do try to join us either live at the fair or on any of our broadcasts at 4,5,6,7 and 11.

Check out the Orinid Meteor Shower into our mid week. With these clear skies, we’re seeing great viewing with the best around two hours before sunrise on Wednesday morning. Look towards the Little Dipper for the best and most meteors. These are part of the debris left over from Haley’s Comet. It’s a great time of the year for star gazing and we’ve got some great weather to view by.
We’ll see a few showers by late Friday and Saturday, otherwise, nice weather continues here in the Lowcountry. I hope you can join us for tonight’s broadcast at 5,6,7 & 11.

Parts of the Lowcountry awoke to some frost this morning as temperatures dipped into the mid and upper 30′s. What a contrast to the 90 degree days we had just over a week ago. That’s fall in the south. Much like we see in the early spring, wild temperature swings are common as weather patterns begin shifting into a more winter like setup. We’ll have another cool night before temperatures begin to rebound by midweek. In fact, highs by Thursday and Friday will be near 80 degrees.
The Atlantic Basin remains very quiet with about 6 weeks to go in the 2009 hurricane season. However, a few of the long range computer models are hinting at some tropical development in the western Caribbean by the weekend. This is one of the “hot spots” that we watch in October and November as the water temperatures down there are still well into the 80′s. We’ll continue to monitor and of course keep you updated through November 30th. The next name on the the list is Ida. Have a great week !!

Look for a muggy weekend as a cold front moves east and we’ll be looking for a few scattered showers and thunderstorms into Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Highs will be in the upper 80′s to near 90 Saturday and could break records. Sunday will be cooler in the upper 70′s to near 80.
Hope you have a great weekend. Brad will be here with your complete forecast on our weekend shows. Also try out our new interactive radar at LIVE5NEWS.COM. Just click on weather and “interactive radar.”
Have a great and safe weekend!

Well fall is here and it definitely felt like it early last week. A few areas dipped into the 40′s last Tuesday and Wednesday morning and highs never got out of the 70′s. Now we’re back in the 80′s and some areas may flirt with 90 before next weekend. However, Monday will be quite the anomaly as a “cool air wedge” sets up. Northeast winds along with lots of clouds and showers will keep high temperatures struggling to reach 70 degrees. We can use the rain after the second driest September on record. The rest of the work week looks warm with highs well into the 80′s and just a slight chance for afternoon showers.
The tropics remain quiet for the moment and we heading intot he home stretch now with less than two months remaining in the season. Hard to believe that we have had only 6 named storms, but haven’t heard too many complaints. That’s it for now. Have a great Monday as you dodge the raindrops.
